The Minnesota House Health Finance and Policy Committee heard on Thursday morning the introduction of bill HF1, which aims to establish the fundamental right to reproductive health access.
The bill, known as the “Protect Reproductive Options Act,” received support from MNAAP through a letter to Chair Tina Leibling (DFL-24B) and committee members. Signed by MNAAP President Eileen Crespo, MD, FAAP, on behalf of MNAAP members, the letter states:
“Our state chapter shares the position of the American Academy of Pediatrics, who has long supported access to all options regarding undesired pregnancy, including the right to obtain an abortion. Undesired pregnancy has a profound, multigenerational impact on children, adolescents, and families. When access to comprehensive sexual and reproductive healthcare is restricted, youth and families from marginalized communities bear a disproportionate burden, magnifying long-standing inequities.”
